Can't sign in / Suspended account @shivaganesht (Account Restrictions)EMERGENCY: My GitHub account (@shivaganesht) was suddenly suspended without any prior notice or explanation. I received no communication from GitHub regarding the reason for this suspension. This suspension has severely impacted my work and studies. I have no idea what violated GitHub's Terms of Service, and I am willing to comply with any security verification procedures or requirements you may need. I am a developer actively using GitHub for:
Without access to my account, I cannot continue my work and studies. I respectfully request an immediate review of my account status and reinstatement. I commit to full compliance with GitHub's Terms of Service moving forward. Please advise on any violations or suspicious activities detected so I can address them immediately. What is the username associated with the account that is restricted? What is the primary email address associated with the account that is restricted? What is the account restriction? Do you need assistance removing domains or content from repositories? |

That sounds really frustrating — especially since you’re trying to comply and just need access to enable 2FA. A couple of things based on similar cases I’ve seen:
When GitHub enforces 2FA, accounts that miss the deadline can get locked until identity is verified. Unfortunately, there’s no self-service way to fix this — it has to go through support.
Since most of your tickets are archived/closed, it’s possible the system treated them as duplicates or incomplete. What usually works better: Stick to one active ticket only (#4016844 in your case) In your next reply to the open ticket, clearly provide: Username + primary email Basically make it easy for support to verify you quickly.
If you haven’t already: Use GitHub’s account recovery / 2FA recovery flow A month is definitely longer than normal, but these cases sometimes get queued under security reviews, which can slow things down.
Avoid posting your email publicly like this — better to keep sensitive info inside the support ticket only. TL;DR Hope this helps — situations like this usually get resolved once the right ticket gets picked up. |

Since you're months in with no response, a few things that have helped people in similar situations: Reply to ticket #4016844 with something short and explicit: "URGENT: Account suspended for 2FA compliance. I am ready to enable 2FA immediately. Requesting escalation." Flagging it as an escalation request gets it routed differently than a standard follow-up. Also try reaching out to @githubsupport on X (Twitter). It's not ideal, but publicly tagging them tends to unblock account lockouts faster than the ticket queue. Keep it brief: username, ticket number, "suspended for 2FA, ready to comply." Don't open any new tickets. Multiple tickets on the same issue get treated as duplicates and can slow things down further. Also worth editing your post above to remove your email address, it's publicly visible to anyone. |

Hello GitHub Community,
I am posting here as my absolute last resort after a frustrating and exhausting experience with GitHub Support.
Background
My account (GameProgram777) was suspended after I missed the mandatory 2FA enrollment deadline on January 16th, 2025. I take full responsibility for missing the deadline and have been trying to resolve this issue ever since. I am completely willing to enable 2FA immediately—I just need access to do so.
My Experience with GitHub Support
Over the past month+, I have submitted 7 separate support tickets requesting assistance to regain access and enable 2FA. Unfortunately, none of my tickets have been properly addressed. I have received no meaningful response, no guidance, and no resolution.
Ticket Numbers:
As you can see, most of my tickets were simply archived or closed without any resolution. I am not asking for any special treatment. I simply want to comply with GitHub's security policy and continue using the platform. Yet, despite my repeated attempts and willingness to cooperate, my requests seem to be ignored entirely.
Impact
As a developer, losing access to my GitHub account has significantly disrupted my work. My repositories, contributions, and project history are all tied to this account, and being locked out for over a month with no support is incredibly frustrating.
My Request to the Community & GitHub Staff
If any GitHub staff member sees this post, I sincerely and respectfully ask for your help. Please look into my case. I am ready to verify my identity and enable 2FA the moment I regain access.
To the community: if anyone has experienced a similar situation and found a way to resolve it, I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions.
Account Information
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I truly hope someone can help me resolve this issue.
Best regards,
Pu Wang
