Even if your classroom work is done, you should: Push new commits to repositories Example ideas (quick wins): Build a small React Native demo app (fits your profile 👀) Since your issue specifically mentions Classroom: Go back to your old classroom repos 👉 Even small updates count as “contributions”
GitHub checks your profile signals: Add a proper bio If possible, upload: College ID card 👉 This often bypasses the “classroom contribution” issue completely
After doing the above: Wait 2–5 days GitHub’s system needs time to re-evaluate your account. |

Adding to the great advice above! Since your class from last semester is over, your teacher has likely locked or archived those specific GitHub Classroom repositories. If that is the case, you won't be able to push new commits to them anyway. GitHub's automated system just wants to see organic, natural developer behavior. Instead of stressing over locked classroom assignments, create a brand new public repository. Upload a personal project, build a simple portfolio site using GitHub Pages, and make a few commits over the next week. Once the system sees you acting like a regular developer outside of just completing homework, that error usually disappears! |

That message is a bit misleading. It's not asking you to push more commits to those specific classroom repos, it's checking your broader account activity as a signal that you're an active developer. If your classroom from last semester is archived or locked by your instructor, you can't push to it anyway. The quickest fix is to create a new public repo, upload a personal project (even something small), and make a few commits over the next few days. If you have a student ID or an official school email (.edu or similar), uploading that through the verification flow is the most reliable path. Hi everyone,
I'm I'm looking to sign up for GitHub Student Pack, and I have revoled every other requirement except for the following: "Try applying again after making more contributions to the GitHub Classroom assignment(s) created by your teacher."
The last classroom that I was a part of was for a class last semester, and I double checked that all the assignments were completed.
I have no clue what to do about this, and I'm hoping for tips and suggestions. Thanks in advance!
