"App not installed" using APK file in Physical Android device

Hello All,

I have created a sample project of hello world application where I had the targetSDK set to 33 and compileSDK set to 24.
I was able to install the app using the ADB. Now, when I try to install the app using the APK file which I generated from the android studio didn't installed. I have tried to use both the normal apk and signed apk tho the issue still persists.
Below are the ways I tried :-

1. Clean and rebuild the app
2. Downgrading the version
3. Clearing cache and data of the package installer

Also, I logged the error when installing the apk it gave me this - android.content.pm.PackageManager$NameNotFoundException and
result of install: -22{102904034}
Please feel free to use the project which I have attached with this question.

I also double checked the package name from the manifest file and gradle file. I don't find any error in that too.

Can anyone please let me know the cause and how could I fix this issue?

I faced a very similar issue recently (even a normal bitlife apk wouldn’t install on my device), and in my case the root cause was a mismatch between compileSdk and targetSdk.
You’re using targetSdk = 33 but compileSdk = 24, and Android often rejects the APK during install because the package metadata doesn’t match modern requirements.
Try this:
-Set both compileSdk and targetSdk to 33
-Rebuild a fresh APK
-Uninstall any previous app with the same package name (signature conflict)
-Then install again with adb install -r app.apk
This fixed the same INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_APK / -22 style error for me. If it still fails, share the adb logcat output — that usually shows the exact cause.
