• Lead Time for Changes — The amount of time it takes a commit to get into production
• Change Failure Rate — The percentage of deployments causing a failure in production
• Time to Restore Service — How long it takes an organization to recover from a failure in production

Subject: Proposal for GSSoC '26 - Comprehensive DORA Metrics Action with Visualization

Hi @zkoppert,

I’ve been analyzing the requirements for the DORA metrics action. While calculating the raw numbers (Deployment Frequency, Lead Time, Failure Rate, MTTR) is the core goal, I’d like to propose a more feature-rich implementation that brings immediate value to users.

My Proposed Solution: Instead of just logging numbers to the console, I plan to build a composite Action that:

1. 📊 Visual Dashboard: Generates a GitHub Job Summary (Markdown) at the end of the run. This allows maintainers to see their DORA metrics instantly in the Actions tab without digging through logs.
3. 🤖 Bot Filtering: Includes an input to exclude PRs/commits from bots (like dependabot or renovate) to ensure the "Lead Time" metric reflects actual human team performance.
5. ⏱ Smart "Time to Restore" Logic: utilizing the GitHub Issues API to track the time difference between an issue labeled incident being opened and closed.
7. 📉 Trend Analysis (Bonus): If time permits, I can implement a method to compare current metrics against the previous run (stored via Artifacts) to show trend indicators (e.g., "⬇️ Lead time decreased by 20%").

I am participating in GSSoC '26 and have experience with the GitHub Actions API. I would love to be assigned this issue to build a robust tool for the community.
